The latest seasonal prattle as Fall continues to draw to a close
If the Fall anime season has taught me anything, it’s that overly verbose think pieces, knee-jerk cash-ins on controversy, and poorly constructed hot takes are at an all-time high in the community.
This Fall anime season is quickly coming to a close. A final month stretch that has expectations thoroughly established and viewers looking on to see if the works they’re following can stick the landing or even offer a bit more upside. Essentially it’s time to find out what is left in the tank. What works have the aptitude to end strong and which ones fall short of the mark. However, for some, that question may have been already answered.
Back and dishing out some quick thoughts on Fall’s latest offerings.
SSSS.Gridman has had plenty of textual red flags – primarily stemming from a weak, undercooked protagonist trio with even flimsier relationships, yet I still held out hope. Held out hope that it would be all worth it. What I’ve gotten in return so far can’t be any further from that.
SSSS.Gridman is rich, nuanced and deeply cared for visually – toting a very applaudable creative effort. Unfortunately, the exact same thing can’t be said about its writing and characters. Let’s quickly touch upon one of Fall’s more lopsided anime and why it can be a bit of a tough buy in.
Tokyo Ghoul:re 2 is in desperate need of a support group, but will it actually get help?
