Not every work has to be some overt masterpiece, good or some variant of bad as they’re often labeled. There’s nothing wrong with having an okay work that isn’t flashy but just gets its job done.
So it looks like all that whining was for nothing, good job.

A Place Further Than The Universe’s reception has been booming since completion – with a large swath of viewers and critics referring to it as a masterpiece, no contest choice for anime of the season, and even anime of the year.
The consistent conversation surrounding Darling in The FranXX isn’t around its lavish flashes of visual prowess.
It’s not around its for better or for worse writing.
And it’s not around any thematic substance it attempts to muster up and cleanly convey.
It’s unfortunately a sentiment I run into all too often in the community.
