Fall Anime 2020 Week 11 [Check-In]

SEASONAL PRATTLE

Kamisama ni Natta H returns with a steaming serving of awful – attempting to pull-off a crucial tear-jerking reveal in the script, with the only drawback being the show’s ability to script write has proven to be a trashcan, thereby doing nothing but failing as anticipated. It doesn’t take long to see how Ten tosses away any chance of success as Suzuki’s rushed intertwining with Youta’s crew is equally as potent of a narrative anchor as Youta’s character acting throughout this run – not only being ridiculously naive with Suzuki’s sudden involvement in his for life months but also apparently not even being able to follow basic instructions upon reuniting with Hina. Kamisama ni Natta H never really had the tonal awareness or underlying dexterity to set up and hit the scenarios they desire, but Youta quickly going senile in terms of reading the room or just plain logic on a greater whole certainly doesn’t help.

Tonikaku Kawaii (11)

“The type of episode that would definitely be better off as an OVA”

Tonikaku Kawaii offers a passable performance for what it wants to be with this lastest clump of content acting as another reflection of this series’ tepid quality. Thus, episode eleven still suffers from visible symptoms of a malnourished story when ushering out its Takoyaki party-centric content, lacking clear relevance and fluctuating greatly in its ability to deliver jokes all depending on the girl they center around – inevitably ending up as an okay viewing when the dust settles by credit roll. This is the type of episode that would definitely be better off as an OVA or placed in the middle of the series as opposed to being the semi-finale.

Kimi to Boku no Saigo no Senjou, Aruiwa Sekai ga Hajimaru Seisen (10)

“A highly artificial setup to get Sisbell and Iska in the same location all topped off with a predictable outcome”

It’s been expressed more often than not in these weekly Check-Ins just how poorly built Kimisen is from a written perspective – but even with expectations thoroughly lowered from previous textual neglect, the start to this new Sisbell involved arc is still noticeably bad. It’s essentially all groundwork with a minimal hook; A story weaved from some of the most conventional threads, including a typical beach scenario, and a highly artificial setup to get Sisbell and Iska in the same location all topped off with a predictable outcome of her romantic interest. Everything offered from soft fanservice to comedy is openly stunted and generic – adding nothing to an already failing series, and in some senses, dragging it down more. Another swing and a miss.
